Grief as a Blooming Flower
40’’ x 30’’ watercolor, gouache, and pastel on canvas.

“grief is a blooming flower.  it is living and breathing. it can be a healthy flower if you show it love. sometime grief doesn’t look like a flower, so we treat it like a weed.  we try to drown it in poisons, rip it out, hide it in the shade. still it lives. grief is a blooming flower. it can be a healthy flower if you show it love.

Thoughts on migration:  i think it’s really weird to be inspired by migration in the oceans, in the skies, on hoof, but not share that amazement in human migration. when fellow humans show the same lust for life and undisputed courage, the western world not only turns a blind eye, but lays down an iron fist. we are all just trying to live, to follow the light of hope that guides our steps.

i pray for safe passage                     for all of us animals,
        alike on this earth,
       we roam-
in search of a safe haven,
        even temporarily
                                    a place to call home.
